Second Game vs Floyd Central pictures!

Our first away game was avery hard fought battle, but the lessons we learned will remain with us forever. As expected Floyd Central came to play and their squad has always been known for good sound football. We knew it and tried to prepare for it, but our week of practice was not as productive as we hoped and the game was a direct reflection of it. Defense held their own and except for a "busted" play, they kept the Floyd Central boys in check the entire game. Special teams had an exceptional game and field position was a plus. Offensively we did some good things and we did some bad things, but overall we learned that trial by fire always hardens the strong.

An interception late in the first half gave Floyd Central a 14-0 lead. But after half time the Dragons came out flaming and it lead to a quick score taking us to 14-6 with a missed extra point. The defense stepped out on the field and soon got the ball back. This led to one of the longest drives with have experienced so far inlcuding some very costly penalties on our part. Field positon was fought for and clock control was crucial, but in the end, with just a few seconds on the clock we relinquished the ball and that was it.

We did learn a very valuable lesson though. How you practice is how you play. The game over all was a direct reflection of our practice week. Mental mistakes are costly. Lack of discipline on crucial plays also played a role, but overall knowing that no team is simply just going to let us take it, is biggest lesson of them all. This will spark a new fire into the Dragons and hopefully a resounding one!
